About the University of Illinois
When you come to the IEI, you are studying on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Illinois is a major public university that is ranked among the best in the world. With over 38,000 students from 100 countries, the University of Illinois (U of I) offers a rich diverse cultural experience. The U of I provides graduate and undergraduate education in over 150 fields of study and is a major research university. It is the home of 11 Nobel Prize winners and 18 Pulitzer Prize winners.

Use the University of Illinois Library
Check out the U of I library while you are here! The U of I library is a modern study and research facility. With more than 10 million volumes, it is the largest state university library in the country and the third largest academic library in the United States. As a student you can borrow books, DVDs and CDs all for free with your student ID.
The Illini Union is a great place to eat, study, or just hang out. The Union has restaurants, student lounges and study rooms, as well as exhibition, performance, and dancing halls which are frequently used by U of I students. There is even a hotel.
Have fun at ARC and CRCE (the Activities and Recreation Center and Campus Receation Center-East)
If you like to exercise, then the ARC and CRCE are the places for you. The ARC is one of the largest on-campus recreation centers in the US. It has swimming pools, raquetball courts, hundreds of weight machines, and indoor track, four gyms and a 35 foot climbing wall among other things. CRCE is a smaller facility but also provides similar opportunities for IEI students to work out. All of this is free with your student ID.

The University of Illinois has many other sports facilities available on campus including tennis courts, two golf courses, soccer fields, an ice skating rink, billiards tables, and bowling lanes.
Go to performances at The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts
The Krannert Center provides world-class cultural activities such as concerts, plays, and dance performances. IEI students can enjoy excellent student ticket discounts offered all year round by this institution.
Watch U of I basketball at the Assembly Hall
The Assembly Hall houses the U of I's basketball games as well as cultural events. Some of these cultural events include Broadway series shows and concerts by well-known pop and rock acts (recent examples: Janet Jackson, Elton John, Prince, Eminem, Billy Joel, and Bob Dylan). IEI students may also receive student discounts on their tickets for these events.
University Museums and Exhibition Centers
The U of I has several museums and exhibition centers such as the Spurlock Museum, the Krannert Art Museum, and the Levis Faculty Center, exhibit rich collections of world and local art and cultural heritage. Student art and photography shows are encouraged and supported by the University and student associations on campus.
