Develop a Program

IEI can support your students and professionals in learning English at every level.

Why choose one of our programs?

At the Intensive English Institute, we have more than 50 years of experience helping individuals improve their English language proficiency. Students in our programs have access to excellent instruction by highly qualified faculty, courses tailored to meet their language and professional-training needs, a rich variety of social, cultural, and recreational activities, and the opportunity to make friends from all over the world. We welcome program inquiries from units and departments at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, prospective program partners (including international businesses, banks, government ministries), and university or secondary schools who want to enhance the skills of their employees and students.

Steps to Develop a Program

Our special programs are designed to match specific needs and interests of our partners. Program development is an on-going, collaborative process with our staff and participants. Here are common steps to developing a program with us:

1. Contact Us

Grant Brewer, Assistant Director at the IEI, is available to discuss your interest in developing a program. Please email Grant (brewer4@illinois.edu) to express your interest in developing a program.

2. Discuss Details

We want to learn as much as possible about your interests, in order to make sure we will design a program to meets your participants’ training outcomes. Please identify these key program details:

  • Participant status (student, professional, etc.)
  • English proficiency
  • Preferred dates
  • Number of participants
  • Forms of funding (e.g., institutional, governmental, industry, personal)

3. Design Program Plan

Once we have developed an understanding of your participants and goals, IEI will develop a customized program plan with courses and activities.
